Become a Volunteer at NRAS

We offer diverse opportunities for individuals looking to lend a hand, and we’re always on the lookout for dedicated volunteers. Whether you aspire to become a foster carer, contribute your time at the shelter, assist with administrative duties, offer transportation services, gardening, participate in events, or explore any other role – there are numerous ways to get involved!

Animal Care at the Shelter

Support our shelter’s animals by volunteering for morning, mid-day, or late afternoon shifts. You can choose to care for either cats or dogs, spending quality time with them. Duties include feeding, playing, administering medicine when necessary, and taking dogs for walks.

Foster Carers

We always prefer that our animals are cared for in a warm and loving home environment. We provide all essential supplies, including food and health care, so you can focus on providing love, and a safe space for our animals.

OP Shop

Our Op Shop plays a crucial role in supporting our mission. You can contribute by assisting with donation sorting or volunteering for customer service shifts. We are open 6 days a week.

Drivers

Have some spare time and like driving? Help us transport animals, supplies, donations, and essentials to and from the shelter.

Gardening and General Maintenance

Do you have skills as a handyman or gardener? If so, we invite you to lend a hand to assist us in keeping our shelter in the best condition possible.

Administration

Bring your communication and organisational skills to the NRAS Office team to assist with various administrative tasks such as data entry, updating animal paperwork, filing and answering caller enquiries.
